ENFERMO

Yo enfermo, im sick yet again.
Ever since i was in Bolivia a month ago i have been sick.I got food poisening in bolivia that lasted about two weeks. No eating and the hellish gastro ended up losing me the kilo's i gained in peru.
Once i got over that that's when i perforated my eardrum, and that is still giving me a whole lot of trouble.
Now on top of that im back on the dunny every hour shooying only water out where its not supposed to come out.Im doing really well,a month of sickness yet im still having a blast and not letting it worry me.
Im in Quito, a city in northern equador. Its a wonderfull city that is nearly entirely made up of old spanish colonial building, big white and beautifull.Oh and the churche's,well they are quite amazing.
Anyway gotta go spray that bowl again.

CWAZY ECUADOR

O am loving Ecuador so much.I have been staying mostly in small little coastal village's.The local's tend to be extremely friendlay and the seafood feasts are out of this world.
The general vibe in towns is that really chilled atmosphere yopu tend to get in the tropics.I have seen some hilarious stuff in these "anything goes" towns.
Most people ride around on their bike's,from young to really old people. Many dink friend's around in unusual positions and yesterday i saw a guy with a big white bucket tied to the side of his bike at the back and in that bucket was a small child, hilarious.
Today i was walking when a guy on a motorbike cruised past rather slowly and coolely.
He had a cd player zip-tied to his handlebars. Then he had these pretty big house speakers attatched to the front forks of his motorbike. He was riding around wth an 80's opened face helmut,a mo,and aviator sunnglasse's.And to add to this allready hilarious scene he had the salsa music blaring through the main street.Nobody seemed phazed except for me.
Oh,last night there was a kid all of around 12,letting fireworks off in the main plaza. There was army personell and security standing within 20 metre's of him.He was causing a good ol loed scene but nobody blinked an eye, except for me again,i was loving it.Secuirity and army not even bothered by this.
Not to mention the insane fireworks i experienced at the local church in montanita last week, see NOISY TOWN part 2.
It's also very common here to see car's transporting good's dragging along the ground behind but the most impressive of all i think is how many people they can fit on a scooter here. Its never one, allways more.Im forever seeing a family of four on a scooter,Mum,Dad and a child wedged between each, a good laugh.
Here's another one, walking through town today and the plaza (town square) there were two chicks, three guys all in their school uniform drinking longneck beers at lunchtime in the open, excellent, just like us going to the pub at lunchtime in year twelve,Warragul.Only i was the only underager.
Also here there is a military school for kids young as about 6 and up,that one i don't like.
Finally three nights ago i was at a restuarant with some other traveller's.After dinner they proceeded to roll a joint then smoke it at the reatuarant table,no worrie's from anyone.Thats not bad ya know.
So there are so many cwazy sights here daily,no safety,no rule's but competly chilled out society,i love it.

22 November 2006

One of the greatest and most rewarding things about travel is the amount of wonderful people you meet along the way,and the amount you can learn off them.
Although our time together may have been short you have all made an impact on my life, you know who you are.
If your face is'nt here does'nt mean i forgot ya ok.
I could not possibly fit you all in.I will never forget the time's we all had,and hopefully never lose contact.
Hope to see you all agian soon.As for you two young stinkin yankee's,ill see you in Australia, thanx for the memorie's.

FLAT DAY FUN

Most surf spots in Peru were in the middle of no-where.Just desert,a surfbreak and a small village. Here's wht happened when there were no wave's

Of course there is'nt allways surf in Peru.
Beer usually fueled some sort of entertainment wether it be from salsa lesson's to sandboarding.
Alex the little punk ripped the fins off this board just so we could go down the dune's.Commitment.This proves when you have a silly idea while drinking beer that it is good to have a hyperactive kid around to make things happen.
Notice how hard im holding onto that beer not spilling a drop, priorotie's no, beer before safety.(you can click on these images to enlarge them, print or whatever if they are too small)

CHICAMA

Good surf,
Good Beer (so cold,gracias doris)
Good people,
GOOD TIME'

MORE CHICAMA

Looooong looooong lefthanders.Have some better photo' somewhere but these tell a bit of the storie for the time been.

LOBITOS

These are some shots of me a while back in Lobitos.
5 point breaks within 10 minute's walk of each other,it was one of my favourite spots when there was wave's.But,
When it was flat it was soooo boring.I remember one day me and brocky were on the beers, heaps of em.
We were so bored we decided to light a fire for the fun of it.We got a ripper fire cranking out the front. It ended up been so big hot we could'nt sit there.
I guess thats what you get lighting fire's on a 30 plus degree day.Got some good looks from passer's by too, crazy ozzi's.

WITCH MARKETS

These are the witch markets in La Paz, bolivia.
As you can see there is some seriously freaky and crazy shit here.It also stinks a great deal as there are herbs, plants and dead cacus's evrywhere.
I used to hate the energy walking past there and would not look at any of the witche's,in case they would ask me to buy something.
I was scared if i said NO they would be offended and cast some sort of freaky spell on me.

REMEMBERING TIME'S (An Aurora and Luke Smiths Driving skills)

Last night i was lying in bed,too hot to sleep.
I was remembering all the awesome time's and experience's i have had in my life with all of you,my great friends.
One memory that stood out was a night in South Gippsland.
Gavin played at the Tarwin Pub, we had rented a house down in Venus Bay for a big crazy after party with all the crew.It had allready been an awesome night with special people and special time's.
I remember brucey coming inside and saying "there's some really weird shit going on in the sky",
It was a little funny as it was abou 4:30 in the morning and who knows what he and everyone else had consumed.Anyway, a few others investigated and returned to say "you have to come and check this shit out".
Covering One quarter of the sky,it was huge, in front of us all was a masterpiece at work.It was an aurora happening,(aurora australis).
There were red's,oranges and shade's of green, splashing and dancing around the sky as if it was an artist painting the sky with magic.
If i were on my own i would'nt have beleived my eye's,such a big colorfull aurora in australia. It was an epic and went on for at least half an hour that seemed like a lifetime.
I looked around, saw wooly, trav,b,jinka, brucey, smithers, binny, jess, boo (i think, very late, long time ago) and so many other good friends sharing the moment,we were blessed that night im sure.
This was easily one of the most amazing and beautiful things i have ever seen nature produce.

NOW TO SMITHER'S AND HIS DRIVING-
Another one that came into my head which made me laugh and also feel blessed again.
(for the gatha crew and wooly) Remember Luke Smith's Drving skills.
They were at an all time high when he owned his big red ford family wagon.
It had a dint in every panel by the end of it's life.I don't think there was one person (maybe joan and ian) that entered that car and was'nt involved in some sort of accident or beleiving that this was going to be their last night alive,at the hand's of Luke.Funny shit.
Three of my favourite incident's.
1- when he handbraked for 150 metre's with a car full of us into the corner at The Gap,Waratah Bay.We even knew we were going to go into the gully and had time to put our seatbelt's on.Straight off the corner and into the ditch. We had to walk back in the pissing rain to waratah, nice driving luke.

2- well this time me and luke were alone. We had been out at Cypriss Hill,Leongatha North. It was a little wet and where the dirt met the bitumen at a blind T-intersaection luke decided to hit it at 80km per hour,go sideways and do a full 180 degree spin to face bace to the intersection.
"whoaaaa, thats cool, lets do it again Noel",
"No fucking way man,let me out,im watching, and ill signal you if there is a car,Your fucking mad".
I stood there at this intersectino in the middle of the country, awaiting smither's to appear, coming so fast into around the corner and hit this intersection sideways. It was so goddamn funny to watch, crazy too.
This went on for half an hour as he would go back about 6 time's and do it again, he was stuck in the moment, funny stuff.Nice driving Luke.

3- well number three saw the end of an era. This would be the death of the big red wagon, so many incident's in one car, unbeleivable, and no injurie's.
Im not sure how much detail i can go into here as fore legal reason's.
But let it be known, the car was full,it was dark, we should'nt have been driving if you know what i mean, it was a backroad to the pub to avoid anytrouble.
We rounded a corner only to lose the back end and fly straight off the edge, spinning around airborne,a two metre drop off the edge, through a fence and into a farmer's paddock.Think we even nearly hit a cow.Luckily we hit nothing,it was like been on the Gravatron at the show.Spin Spin Spin.
We were in the paddock,"is everyone cool",
"yeah slightly dizzy but i don't think we are dead".
We were in the middle of this paddock,80 metre's from the road, bogged and working out how to get out of there.
The car was completely rooted,a write off,but still went.
We saw a driveway, pushed the car, wheels spinning getting dirty towards it,then found another fence.
We all pulled the stumps and pushed this fence over to get on the driveway. This was pretty funny as it was an electric fence and everyone was getting constantly zapped.
Smithers was stressing, the farmer did'nt hear us.
We were out on the driveway, back in the trashed car,up the driveway 100 metre's to the road and free.
Not free.As luke hit the main road (im really luaghing writing this),He turned on to the road to soon, drove of the driveway and into the drain on the dide of the road.We were high and dry, stuck going nowhere. He had muffed it good and proper and amonst the "what are you bloody doing smither's" we were laughing at the whole ordeal.
Trent "mellon" Allen then had to call Kaz,drag her out of bed and get her to drive out the 4 wheel drive to tow us out.
We waited for age's but once out of the ditch it was a slow, clunky and quite drive back to brucey'e farm where the old red ford had her last day.
Nice driving Luke.
The best thing was smither's had written off two car's,lost his licence for drink driving, countless speeding offence's,countless other incedent's but still protested with such self beleif and confidence.
"What are you talking about,i'm a Great driver"
All i can say is,"nice driving luke" and thanx for some funny memorie's.

TO WALK AND NOT TO SWIM

So been out of the water not surfing or swimming with a perforeted ear,
There were somedays when all i did was walk...............with my guitar, camera and not much else............sit,play...........walk................sing'n'walk.......
discovering all sorts of cool and crazy stuff...
