BLUEBOTTLE JELLYFISH

Summer months and the noer easters up the coast bring these jewel's. Would never have guessed something that can bring so much pain could be so colorful and beautiful.

CAMP WOOLY

One hell of a campsite.Camp wooly it was named, after i had given up and got the shits with finding camp Senior Wooly Weir took the reigns and came accross this gem. We snoozed,we paddled,we fished,we chilled and i marked this one on the map to return again soon.

FAR NTH QLD

Ahhhh the tropical north east coast. If i was'nt a surfer i would reside there in a heartbeat.

ECLIPSE NOV 2012

Eclipse 2012 North Queensland.I have seen some beautiful sights in our sky,an Aurora Australis at sandy point at 4am that lasted 45 minutes, also a meteor shower that lasted three consecutive nights in central Australia with what looked like constant shooting stars by the dozen. But this Total Solar Eclipse at 8:35am would have to take the cake for the most amazing things i have seen with the naked eye.To top it off the backdrop was the daintree rainforest as Brett Weir and myself where perched on top of a mountain away from civilisation enjoying the view. It lasted around three hours with totality (when the moon blocks the sun) lasting a long two minutes. The light during totality was something to remember,a bluey purple tinge covered the landscape to our backs and the birds stopped chirping, thinking it was bedtime.During totality you could remove your solar gasses and glimpse at this natural phenomenon. I would definitely travel and recommend a trip to some other part of the world to witness a Total Solar Eclipse. I believe the next one is visible in Iceland in a few years with the next one in Australia in the Sydney region in 16 years. After that,i hear there will not be another in Oz for 300+ years.

CHARLES KNIFE

This is a canyon i did a load of free camping at when in the exmouth area.I could reverse my van up freakishly close to the edge and sleep with my head out the back door peering deep into this beautiful canyon.
The echoes through the canyon on a calm night with no people to hear were loud and continous.
The view from here also was spectacular, you can see in the photo that you would look through the canyon into the exmouth gulf and see the sun rise above the water and land.If you click on the top image and enlarge i you can see the reflective and colorful ocean.
For those of you that get up that way, its a must and not too many punters take the time out to get up there. Its 25 mins south of town and 10mins up there, charles knife canyon.

FREEDOM

This is something that i really have felt this year in my life, a true sense of freedom.
Although it has been a very loneley path this trip and at times that was the biggest struggle i had (to see what i saw and not be able to share it) it has been worth every minute of it as you come to realise life is so short, and no matter what it is you choose to do, wether its frowned upon or supported the main thing involved is wether your happy and enjoying what your doing.
I love to be free, to roam wherever i want, to get in my van, find a new place and camp there for days, to me that is freedom,
and i love it.

LEGENDS OF THE WEST

On my two week trip south to Perth i was joined by Jared.
First up it was back to the bluff for a swell where we scored some waves, then up north to Exmouth and the Cape Range N.P for some snorkelling, diving and spear fishing, after it was down to worra, then Kalbarri where i saw my first cold front with rain and shitty weather for the first time in 3 months.Sure hav'nt missed shit weather but as i sit here poolside in Bali the sun is upon me once again.
Found a Thorny Devil on the road so did a U-turn and checked this little fella out.Jared picked him up and he did'nt seem to be too concerned with being handled.
And another big sting-ray, they move so gracefully through the water, which makes them very easy to photograph.
West is still the best i say.

STAIRCASE TO THE MOON

Last full moon i went and witnessed what is called "the staircase to the moon".
I had previously seen it in Broome many years ago and was good to be back in the west to see another one.
Its a west oz thing but im sure it happens in many more parts of the world.
When a full moon rises over sand or mud flats the ripples of the flats and the puddles of water appear as a long striaght broken line resembeling a staircase with the moon as the destination.
This one was'nt the best i have seen but you get the idea from the photo's,
guess ill just have to wait till next time im up north as now im out of the pilbara and heading south, stopping at ningaloo reef of course and Jared Beck will fly over and we will spend two weeks surfing, snorkelling and generally living the dream.
After that,indonesia calls.

OSPREY

The sea eagle has always being one of my favourite birds.Big,a bit of a mystical spiritual and majestical birds they are the owners of the headlands they inhabit australia wide.
This sea eagle i used to see every-time i went to Point Sampson,he would always be cruising along the updrafts of a rocky range that lays next to a tidal muddy inlet.
This day i spent half an hour underneth it watching in clear and close view,it kept reaching me at one end of its path then returning to where it started and coming slowly back as if just to say hi.Its as if it was just letting me know it was watching me as i was it with a mutual respect and i think you can see that in these photo's.
Made it really easy to get some good action shots.

CHICHESTER MILLSTREAM N.P

PILBARA FLOWER SEASON

They just keep coming out in different places,
new wildflowers every week or so.
Against the desert backdrop and red rock, with the blue sky when you see a field of them its like nature at its finest.

PILBARA BURNOUT

Although this car burning made for a great photo in the middle of nowhere i did'nt light it.
I know how it looks as there is no one in sight but i simply....."did'nt do it".
I came accross it in chichester millstream national park on saturday and actually saw the car that lit it take off, almost busting them in the act.
It must have been doused with fuel because it went up so quick.
I didnt hang around long as i looked pretty suspect myself taking photo's of a burning car in the early stages, but
i did'nt do it.
